Currently customers who send a project invoice out to customers have very limited options in terms of what smart fields can be included, there is no way to include the total amount due on the project in the body of an email with smart fields like there is for invoices.
On the project invoice it does display a total amount of the project so it may be possible to add a smart field to this area of the system.

Customer sends project invoices out to their customers at the end of projects but the body of the email does not allow to include several smart fields that are available in the invoice and estimate emails.
Total Amount due or total project cost could be included as a smart field so that it is able to be automatically included in the email body.
